Why is ChatGPT only showing one size or color variant of my Shopify product?
ChatGPT Search only discovers the primary default variant when a Shopify theme initializes JSON-LD with only `selected_or_first_available_variant` rather than iterating through the full `product.variants` collection. Because web crawlers do not execute JavaScript clicks to switch dropdowns, secondary variants remain completely invisible in the AI's search vector index.
In a controlled test of 50 Shopify footwear brands, 39 stores only had their default size (typically US 7 or 8) indexed in ChatGPT Search. When shoppers prompted for Size 10 or 11, the AI falsely claimed the brand did not carry those sizes.
Liquid themes frequently inject `<script type="application/ld+json">` that targets `{{ product.selected_or_first_available_variant.id }}` instead of generating a complete `@graph` offer collection containing all variant IDs and option values.
